An editorial on TheHill.com points out a number of ways in which Michigan may be worse off in the wake of the UAW Strike.
- Layoffs at Stellantis, and General Motors
- The state has lost auto jobs, while the rest of the country gained
- The unfolding investigation of UAW corruption
- The union’s focus on issues like the war in Gaza
The column points in part to the fact that one quarter of the UAW’s membership work in higher education–not manufacturing–which leads to involvement with issues that have nothing to do with the job security and benefits of auto workers.
