Stellantis Announces More Production Cutbacks

The Detroit News is reporting that automaker Stellantis will pause production at its Detroit Assembly Complex. It’s the latest in a series of cutbacks for the company.

The Mack and Jefferson North facilities are shutting down for the week of April 28. The Mack plant will also take a week off starting May 19.

A statement from the company said the scheduled downtime stems from the transition to a new 2026 Grand Cherokee. The company has also indicated it will extend production of the 2025 version.

Earlier, the automaker called a temporary halt in production at two major assembly plants in Mexico and Canada. The production halts led to the layoff of 900 employees at its stamping and powertrain facilities in the U.S.
