The Washington Examiner reports that each year millions of dollars paid by union members end up in the pockets of family members of union bosses.
The story lists a dozen unions who have been found to pay family members as much as six figures, as documented in union tax filings in 2022. The family members were paid a combined $11 million, according to the article.
One union boss paid four family members. Another paid a family member nearly $300,000 in 2023.
The Examiner story also points out that UAW President Shawn Fain is facing a federal investigation over allegations he demanded other union officials financially benefit his sister and fiancée. The UAW did not respond to the newspaper’s request for comment.
