A union representing staff at the United Auto Workers has called a strike action against the UAW after accusing them of engaging in more than a year of “bad faith bargaining.”
UAW Staff United voted overwhelmingly in October to authorize a strike, seeking fair wages, job security, just cause protections, and sick days.
TAG24 News is now reporting the strike action has been called by the union, which represents many UAW International and local staff in the Northeast U.S.
A December 2 news release from UAW Staff United says, “When UAW staff first attempted to unionize in 2019, they were laid off by the leadership of the International union.”
The striking workers engaged in picketing on December 5 and 6 in New York.
