The Detroit News is reporting that Stellantis NV is terminating 191 workers at its Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, letting workers go at its Jeep Wrangler SUV and Gladiator manufacturing plant, and planning additional layoffs “across its footprint.”
A local UAW official is quoted as saying the union was caught off guard by the layoffs at SHAP.
Layoffs at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant are also coming in October, with somewhere between 1,600 and 2,450 workers affected, according to the company.
