New GM Layoffs Begin Today in Michigan

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that General Motors will lay off 200 employees beginning April 28 at its Detroit Factory Zero and Hamtramck facilities. The company said the layoffs are not tariff-related.

The newspaper reported the automobile manufacturer has no plans for the jobs to return.

The layoffs follow after GM’s recent announcement that it would cease production of the Cadillac XT66 at its Spring Hill, Tennessee plant, beginning May 12.
