WTOL-11 TV reports workers at the unionized Jeep plant in Toledo, Ohio are being pushed past their limits with weeks of mandatory overtime.
Stellantis’ Toledo Assembly Complex has declared “emergency status” to make up for a production backlog and some workers say they’ve had to work 10-hour shifts, six or seven days a week for weeks at a time.
The television station said an internal memo posted at the plant shows the facility has accounted for nearly 30% of all Stellantis North America injuries over the past 10 weeks.
One worker told the station he had worked three weeks straight without a day off.
The president of the United Auto Workers local, Brian Sims, confirmed the plant was under emergency status, but offered no other comment.
